Advice on Visa

VISIT VISA IS REQUIRED

The University officially requires international students to apply for a visit visa.

Applying for a Visit Visa (C9)

CURRENTLY, THE VISA FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IS CALLED “VISIT VISA” (C9)

The visa has to be applied for with a visa agency, exclusively appointed by each University. The visa is usually valid for a maximum stay of 60 days initially. It can and will be extended locally by the agent, for a maximum of 60 days each time. The total maximum stay is 180 days. The University will provide the sponsorship for this visa, however the visa fees have to be paid by the students.

The C9 visit visa is a single-entry visa. Therefore, it is not recommended to leave Indonesia during your studies, because this would cause the visa to terminate. However, if you need to leave the country and plan to re-enter, you must re-apply for a new C9 visa. This must be coordinated with the visa agent to ensure that you will receive it on time.

By the end of the application period for your semester abroad you will be contacted by the visa agency. They will inform you about the exact procedure for your visa application, and they might offer an online meeting to inform about the details and answer remaining questions.

Within the process please check thoroughly if your documents are complete and correct to ensure fast processing. Especially when you are in a hurry, this is extremely important. The visa has to be used within 90 days of the date of issuance. That means you have to enter Indonesia within 90 days after you get your visa.

As soon as you receive the study permit and the official letter of acceptance from the University (approx. 6 weeks before semester start) you can go ahead and apply for the visit visa via the appointed agent. The visit visa process takes between 1-2 weeks, depending on the chosen option at the visa agent. After the visa is issued, the agent will share the e-visa (PDF).

Please be aware that entry requirements and visa regulations are constantly changing. Inform yourself about this at the embassy responsible for your country or at the licensed visa agent.
