Yes. Both bachelor programs are open to students of any major, as well as high school graduates and gap year students. Many of our students pick courses outside their own field on purpose.

No. Neither university asks for a language certificate. All lectures are in English, though, so you should be comfortable following them.

Every course is part of an accredited degree program. Udayana courses are graded in ECTS; Ngurah Rai courses in Indonesian SKS with a conversion table to ECTS. Check the course list with your home university’s international office before you apply.

Enrolled postgraduate students and graduates who want to advance their career. You need a first university degree (for example a bachelor’s).

No. The program is open to high school graduates, gap year students and students of any major. Most participants study a related subject, but it is not required.

Anyone interested: high school graduates, gap year students and students enrolled at a university or college. Your major does not matter, and applying from another field is very common.

Up to five of the seven courses. Each course is worth 6 ECTS, so you can earn up to 30 ECTS in one semester.

Up to seven courses of 5 ECTS each, so up to 35 ECTS (17.5 US credits) in one semester: three concentration subjects, three basic subjects and an optional project.

Your program decides: Business & Tourism, the Master’s Program and Research take place at Udayana University; Architecture & Engineering at Ngurah Rai University.

Yes. Every GoBali course is part of an accredited degree program at the university, so your credits can be recognized at home.

Udayana’s Jimbaran campus is in the south, 15 minutes from the airport. Ngurah Rai’s city campus is in Denpasar, between the capital and Ubud, about 45 minutes from the airport.

Most share a villa with a pool with other students. The cost is split, so it is often no more than a dorm room at home. Houses and small rooms (kosts) are cheaper alternatives. See Housing.

Most rent a scooter. Ride-hailing apps like Gojek and Grab are a cheap and safe alternative. Living close to campus saves you a lot of time in traffic.

Yes. Compared with many other study destinations, Bali is very safe, including for women traveling alone. International hospitals provide professional healthcare.

Warm all year, around 27 °C on average. The dry season runs roughly from April to October, the rainy season from November to March. Even in the rainy season, rain usually comes as a heavy shower in the afternoon or evening, and the sun is back soon after.

Yes. You need travel health insurance that is valid in Indonesia for your whole stay, including emergency assistance for medical and security evacuation. You don’t need it when you apply, but you must be able to show it at any time on request.

Either online on well-known booking platforms before you arrive, or on the spot in Bali with agents who specialize in student villas. Some of them let you book a single room or find flatmates to share a villa.

Yes. You need a valid driving license from home that includes motorcycles, plus an International Driving Permit with the motorcycle category. Police checks are common, and many insurance policies don’t cover you without the right license.

The Balinese New Year, usually in March. For 24 hours the whole island is silent: no traffic, no lights, no going out, and even the airport closes. Everyone stays at home, including visitors. The night before, huge Ogoh-Ogoh figures are paraded through the streets. It is one of the most impressive experiences of a semester in Bali.

The Indonesian government does not require any vaccinations for visitors. Get medical advice in your home country before you travel to Asia anyway.

It depends on what kind of semester you want. If your studies come first, live close to your campus (Jimbaran, Ungasan or Nusa Dua for Udayana; Denpasar, Renon or Sanur for Ngurah Rai): short rides and lower rents. If you want the full Bali lifestyle, Canggu or Seminyak are the places to be, but plan for up to an hour’s commute at rush hour.

Filling in the online form takes about five minutes if you have your documents ready. After you pay the application fee, the university reviews your application within a few days.

Tuition depends on your university in Bali and the country of your home university. All current fees are listed on Fees & Payments. There is also a one-off application fee.

Yes, you need a student visa (E30). The university sponsors it through its International Office; you pay the visa fee together with the tuition fee, in one invoice. See the visa guide.

Yes. Depending on when you cancel, you get up to 100% of your tuition fee back. The visa fee cannot be refunded once the application deadline has passed. Details on Fees & Payments.

No. There is one application deadline per semester and university, and no early-bird or late surcharges.

Government and corporate subsidies lower the Udayana tuition fee for students whose home university is in one of the listed countries. What counts is the country of your home university, not your nationality.

No. The university only accepts international students with a student visa (E30). Other visa types are not permitted.

14 days from submitting your application. After we receive the payment, the university reviews your application within up to five days.

Your student visa lets you enter Indonesia at the earliest two weeks before the semester starts, and you must leave at the latest two weeks after it ends. See the visa guide.
