Hi guys, last week I climbed up the Batur with some friends.
I spoke to other students who still booked this trip, everybody said that it is really hard. When I talked to Caroline to ask for some tips, she recommend warmly to me: „don’t do that!“. (:
We were picked up at 2AM, then we drove about two hours cross country to arrive at the foot of the vulkan.
Flashlight ON and GO!
First the way is straight or with a minimal slope but a lot of sand, lovely to walk in! Afield you can see the queue of flashlights that blaze the tail up to the top.
In the first 30 minutes I said: Yes Caroline was correct. Unaware what still waiting for me!
The slope increases and the bad load complicate the climb. There its only one trail, one by one you can get up, if someone is faster than you better leave them over.
In the end of the rise there is only UP! It tearing the calves, I sweat all over.
I think anyway sweating is here in Bali my main task!!!
Arrived at the top I was at the end of my strength. It took a few minutes to get back my breath.
And then I was just proud (:
The view is amazing but I also said: Yes Caroline was fucking correct!!!
The way down is just as heavy and really slippery.
I was really happy when it was over and it was my plan to do this never again.
But it was my fault to send pictures to my friend who visit me in three weeks. So I’m the idiot who make this a second time. Congratulation Anja!
So my recommendation: wear stable footwear, take breakfast, a big bottle of water best mixed with some sugar (Orange juice or something else) and a pullover.
Have a lovely day, anja
