Hey guys. From now a group of seven GoBali students will fill this blog with reports about the life as a student in Bali. We’re glad, that you’re interested in our daily life and adventures on an island with the perfect study-life balance.
At first I would like to introduce me: My name is Moritz, I come from Düsseldorf in Germany where I study Communication- and Multimedia M anagement. I arrived two weeks ago in Bali, plan to stay till Christmas and move to Sydney afterwards.
Some days ago I decided to make a trip to Nusa Dua with my new friends. The village is famous for its stunning Spa Resorts and luxury hotel complexes. Driving with our Scooters, as every day’s type of transportation here, we passed a new built highway which connects Kuta and the peninsula Bukit Badung. Nusa Dua was built in the 1970’s to concentrate tourism in Bali. That wasn’t 100 % successful because the village is a little bit isolated from other villages like Kuta, Seminyak or Denpasar.
Arriving in Nusa Dua, impressing gardens showed us, that the most expensive hotels are located in this part of South Bali. When we were driving through Nusa Dua for searching for a great beach, we passed lots of Hotels – every of these contained of a huge doorway a gate and security check before entering. In general in my first two weeks in Bali I determined, that security checks at touristic places play a big role here after the bombing attacks in 2002 and 2005.
Heading in direction of Geger Beach we had to discuss with a doorman to pass the private street of the hotel. I’m sure he wanted to get some money, but we could convince him without supporting the corruption.
So, when we continued driving, we passed a magnificient golf court. I think it’s obligatory to play there for people who prefer this sport. Finally we found Geger Beach: White Sand, deep blue water, palms, fresh juices for 15.000 RP! This was the moment when we realized for another time: We are studying in paradise!
Have fun with reading the reports of my classmates – You will find my next posts always on Monday. Besides, feel free to follow my private Blog to detect more of a student’s life in Bali:
