Hey guys, it´s me Patty and I´m studying at Udayana University as well. I came to Bali nearly four weeks ago with my boyfriend and we´re living in a guesthouse in Uluwatu. So here´s the first thing: This area is absolutely comfortable for those who prefer a relaxed traffic and especially for every surfer. You can find a lot of popular surf spots not far from here. Even the famous beach Padang Padang, mentioned in the book “Eat, Pray, Love”, is placed in here.
In case you can´t choose between living in a guesthouse or a villa, your choice should depend on the following thing: In a villa you get to know people much closer. This could be cool, if you like each other. If not, well. 😀 In a guesthouse people come and go. You get to know a lot of different people from all over the world. But this, in contrast, is maybe not the place for deep friendships. So, that´s the deal: Quality or quantity. Before I´m going to report you about all of my great adventures and stunning experiences in my next articles, I´d like to show you the bad side of being in Bali. You know, at university there´s always someone who´s sick in the first week. So while everyone meets each other and gets all the information, he or she stays at home, being absolutely uninformed. Well, surprise, the that someone was me. The good thing about it – I can tell you about my experience of having an abdominal influenza in Bali (by the way probably the shittiest disease, literally) and what to do. The maybe most important point is to make friends with your roommates. Seriously – you´re gonna need them! When you can´t move yourself out of the bed, then there has to be someone who can run some errands, like salt sticks, drinks with electrolytes (I can recommend POCARI SWEAT, which you can find in nearly every mini mart) or chamomile tea. I advise you to bring some standard medicaments against stomach cramps, vomiting, fever and especially diarrhoea from your country with you, so that you can take it immediately. Here are some medicaments which I can recommend: Against stomach cramps Against diarrhoea For our German readers: Here´s a great video to inform you about your first-aid kit. By the way, if you feel a little better after a few days, you should go to the sea. The air is absolutely genial. So, if you get sick – don´t worry. You´re gonna make it 😉 Love, Patty
