Hey guys this is me Patty and today my report is going to be about the Gilis.
You´ve probably read about a trip to the Gilis though they are a very popular and famous destination in Indonesia, especially for young people. The Gilis belong to Lombok and consist of three isles: Gili Travangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno.
The smallest one is Gili Meno. If you´re interested in a lonely, quiet location, this place could be perfect for you.
The opposite of that is Gili Travangan, which is the biggest one and the party isle par excellence. It´s very busy there and of course more expansive than on the other isles. No matter where you look, there are restaurants, bars and hostels everywhere. At evening, a lot of the bars hire different musicians which are pretty cool and entertaining. Furthermore, if you really want to dance the sh*t out of you and search for a nightclub feeling, there are some DJ´s or very cool reggae musicians.
If you can´t decide and want something like a medium, than you should go to Gili Air, where it´s not that busy as on Gili T but not as quiet as Gili M as well.
The best thing for me on the Gilis was the fact, that there isn´t any motorized traffic allowed. All you can find are pushbikes and horse-drawn-carriage. This gave this place a very natural, uncomplicated atmosphere.
Finally, there wasn´t much to do on these isles except making party or go snorkelling. I can recommend you to book a snorkelling tour. We did that and it was pretty cool. You drive to all the isles with a boat and the guides show you the best places for seeing turtles and fish. This tour lasts about 4-5 hours, but it wasn´t as exhausting as it sounds.
If you´re in Bali, you should definitely visit the Gilis – there´s something for everyone.
