Some days ago my friends and me decided to take our scooters and make a one day trip to more northern parts of Bali. Altogether we were a group of 10 people driving in a large row. Leaving Kerebokan, where we’ve met each other at 8 in the morning, we chose a way through smaller villages and fields instead of taking the big highway.
After an hour we arrived at the Tegenungan waterfalls, where we had to climb down hundreds of stairs get closer to the waterfall. Unfortunately the water was brown and not that clear. Anyways the 20 meters high waterfall was very impressing. To reach the bottom, we had to balance over some pieces of wood and jump from stone to stone – so we got a little bit the feeling of being adventurers – and forgot that another 10 tourists watched the waterfall at the same time.
After some break with drinking lots of water – and maybe a bintang radler – we took our scooters and continued driving in direction of Padang Bai. That’s the harbour where boats leave to Gili and and Lombok.
If you plan to go to Padang Bai you should consider that the sellers are very persistent and really go on the nerves. So we left the centre of Padang Bai very fast to search for a Snorkeling spot called Blue Lagoon, which is a little bit beyond.
This was the best decision because it’s a wonderful place, with clear blue water. The beach was very small and there were just another 10 people chilling at the beach. After we rent some snorkeling stuff we checked out the cleat blue water and could see lots of fishes and corals. It’s a great view – but watch out: Don’t touch the plants on the ground – it burns and you get blisters on your skin.
At 5 p.m. we headed back in direction to Seminyak, so we could enjoy our long way back during the sunset.
