on monday I took my scooter and drove to Ubud, which is more or less 50 minutes away from Kerobokan when the traffic is fluidly. The advantage of driving yourself is that you can stop wherever you want to stop and you get another feeling by driving through the green landscape than with a taxi.
First I went to the monkey forest, which was very funny. I bought some bananas and entered the forest. At the beginning of the forest I immediately noticed the intelligent monkeys sitting there, waiting to catch my bananas. You have to keep everything in your bag or -they are so cheeky- they would do everything to steel it. One of the keepers showed me how to hold the banana to make the monkeys jump on my shoulder. I had to hold up the banana and see…suddenly a monkey climbed my arm and took the banana. Some monkeys just take the banana and jump down again, but some stay sitting at your neck and eat the banana with pleasure. It is sooooooo funny and sooooo cute.
Later on we went to the “Tropical View Cafe” nearby the monkey forest. A heaven in the heart of Ubud with spectacular rural views. The seats are leisurely spaced throughout a breezy, open-sided pavilion elevated above an expanse of working rice fields with a vista that extends as far as the eye can see of Bali´s staple crop and coconut palms in distance. I drank a very delicious vanilla milkshake but they also offer breakfast, lunch, dinner or other snacks. This is my recommendation to you because its really tasty and comfortable.
Afterwards we strolled through the city of Ubud for some shopping. There is a huge mall of local shops with figures, jewelry, clothes and other stuff. If you can not negotiate properly, that would definitely be the place to learn it. Among other little shops there was a specific one ,which hit exactly my taste. The name of the shop is “SUEN
NOAJ – Free Love”. There was so much nice stuff -oh gosh.
