Hi there, this week we had a rafting trip to the Telagan Waja river. It was a funny journey, we were picked up early in the morning and some of us were still asleep, let me tell you, this is not their time (;
Arrived at the start station, we got an introduction about how to paddle and several commands we had to know. We needed three boats, two – three and one four – persons plus guide. At this point the challenge started!
I was sitting in the fours boat, we also got a gopro on board, so it was possible to get some impressions for you guys. On one picture you can see my face when I heard that we crossed a view meters before a crocodile o: I think I don’t need any explaining that I wasn’t amused about that fact.
We had a lot of fun but it was really heavy in some parts of the river to move on, the level of the water wasn’t enough for our four – person boat plus guide. And to some passenger it meant a lot to win the challenge!!! So the muscle ache was preprogramed. Onto 15km and around 2,5 hours later, totally exhausted we arrived at the destination on the second position.
I can’t tell you anything about the nice rocks, clean water, beautiful flows, cliffs and waterfall, but HEY, we are the second winners (;
No, ok about the waterfall I can tell you it is an absolutely adrenaline kick, you don’t know where you will go, but you know the water will show you.
I think we will do this for a second time, but superior in the rainy season when the river is full of water to prevent run aground.
My recommendation: wear shoes, firstly because the way down to the river is loooong and your feet will burn (trust me!!!), secondly sometimes there are stones on the ground and you feel it through the floor of the boat that can be painful.
Suncream! It is a really athletic activity and so the sun effect is stronger than regular. Don’t forget the neck, one guy did that and he looks like a little crab.
Thanks to my mates it was a amazing trip.
Have a lovely day, anja
