Today we went to Badang Bai and to Tirta Gangga Temple, which is both in the east of Bali. Badang Bai is a small beach and fishing village, where the ferries go to the Gilli Islands and to Lombok. Compared to the south of Bali like Kuta or Seminyak, you can’t find any large hotel complexes, but therefor small hostels and pensions, where many backpackers stay. We did the trip by taking our motorbike, which was a little bit exhausting, because we had to drive to Badang Bai for about 1 hour and to Tirta Gangga Temple 45 more minutes one way. But nethertheless it was like a feeling of freedom passing by the empty rice fields and mountains, seeing the wonderful blue ocean and the beautiful countryside. Furthermore, the streets were more empty in comparison to the south of bali, where the trafiic is so heavy. It is so much nicer to drive there, because you can enjoy the view so much more. In Badang Bai we went to the white beach, which could be such a beautiful beach if there was not all the rubbish in the sea and the big road works on the way to the beach. After relaxing for a few hours and having some lunch in a warung on the beach, we went to Tirta Gangga. It’s a water palace to the north of Amlapura. It consists of a lot of water basin, ponds with fishes like koi carps and fountains. In my opinion, it is worth going to that temple, because it’s very beautiful and different to the other temples in Bali. On our way back home, we passed the rice paddy terraces, for what the area around Tirta Gangga is is noted.
