two weeks ago we did a road-trip into the North of Bali. Our first destination was the Bird Park and the Reptile Park as I mentioned in my last post. Our second station was Mount Batur which is an active volcano in the North of Bali. At first we wanted to drive with our scooters on top of the volcano which was a stupid idea and impossible to do. So we decided to drive around the volcano and afterwards heading to Lovina, a small village at the North coast. So, after taking some pictures at a platform we started driving. The small street around the mountain was very much fun to drive you can’t imagine. I think you can have interesting races here but it’s better to drive slowly to enjoy the beautiful landscape 😉 The street goes up and down and you have a great view on the volcano and the lake nearby. To drive around the volcano took us about two hours but we made some stops to take pictures and to enjoy the environment. The Lava stones surrounding the volcano look bizarre and different to the common green vegetation in Bali. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that all these different landscapes come together on this small Island. You’ve got a huge variety here, before coming to Bali I couldn’t imagine that something like this exists. People in the northern region are so friendly and helpful that every time you stop, somebody will come and would like to talk to you, show you the way or just want to know if everything is all right. I was so impressed that I’m going to climb Mount Batur tomorrow night. Three hours to get on top and another three hours to go back down. The sunrise is amazing when you’re on top of the volcano so I’m pretty excited !
