The last two weeks I told you about our trip to the North. After Mount Batur we headed to Lovina which is a small village at the North coast of Bali with a black sanded beach. We slept at Gedes homestay for 250.000 Rupiah for one night. We were three guys so that was okay, the room was nice (aircon!) and it was directly at the beach. The next day we watched dolphins in a traditional local boat. We got up at 5.30 in the morning when it was still dark outside. That was quite hard because of the traveling the days before. But it was worth it! Our obese Balinese captain drove us out to the sea and we could see a beautiful sunrise. After about 30 minutes we could see round about 50 other boats which I wasn’t expecting. We had good luck and some dolphins crossed our way about 10 m distance. Seconds later all the other boats came towards our boat following the dolphins. They were chased by all the boats which I didn’t like but it was nice to see wild dolphins in front of me. Of course it can be discussed about this method. We saw the dolphins about four or five times and it was nice to see them jumping.
Afterwards our captain drove us to a great spot for snorkeling. It was much better there than at the Gili Islands. It’s more colorful and more fish can be seen here. We came back to the homestay at about 9.00 and got some pancakes and coffee.
Our next destination was a secret waterfall. More about it in my next post.
