Last weekend I made a tour to Lovina in the North of Bali. Together with a few friends, we rented a bus and drove 3 hours to the north. Our termination was Gede’s homestay at Lovina beach. Here we had booked a few rooms and stayed there for a night. The rest of the day, we were enjoying the beach, had lunch in a reggae bar and had a bonfire with life music on the beach. The next morning started very early. Someone of the homestay woke us at 5:30 and at 6:00 we went on boats. With these boats we went out to have a look at the dolphins. During this ride, we saw the sunrise and when we arrived at our destination at the end of the bay. We actually saw a lot of dolphins, what was really amazing. But I actually wasn’t able to enjoy this, because there were around 30 other boats. Every boat wanted to give their passengers the opportunity to see the dolphins, so every time a dolphin showed up, all boats drove in the direction of the dolphins. I actually felt really sorry for the dolphins, as it was so much traffic in the bay that they weren’t able to swim where they wanted. Lovina calls itself the dolphin’s paradise, but I think it’s no paradise at all for the dolphins; it’s just pure stress for the animals.
When all the dolphins were gone, we drove back with our boats to go snorkeling. The bay of Lovina has a lot of Riffs and cool fish and starfish. We saw so many animals under water and everyone was amazed. The problem was just, that it was 7 :00 in the morning and everyone was just really tired. After seeing all the fish, we went back to have breakfast, have a shower and pack our things. At 12:00 our driver picked us up and on the way back home, we stopped at a hot spring, a Buddhist temple and a waterfall. After seeing a couple of temples already, the Buddhist temple didn’t really surprise me anymore. But the waterfall was really great. We all enjoyed the water and the fresh air and afterwards, we sat into the bus and we drove back. Tired but happy.
