Selamat! Three weeks of studying left, many places have been visited, many “WOW” have been said (I hope). Now I can tell you about truly sacred places for me. Since my first time in Bali till now it’s been 2, 5 years and all this time I’ve never revised my preferences in the place I want to live. It’s Canggu. Frankly speaking, it’s the most atmospheric and stylish place in the whole Bali. How can I prove that? Just come to Echo beach or Berawa beach or each of small cafes and shops around and feel the special mood people bring. I love to drive very slowly through Pantai Berawa straight to the beach and look at all these tiny workshops, and at the huge number of cafes and, especially, at people.
Canggu has a very fascinating place to visit. It’s Deus Ex Machina. It’s a workshop, where they make and sell oldschool clothes, surfboards, motorcycles and plenty of stuff like that. It is also a restaurant with delicious food, on Tuesday they have a tacoday, even you can make a free tattoo on this day. And finally, It’s just a place to chill out on Sunday, to listen to good live music and, of course, to chat with people. Most of them I see every morning on the line up, in fact we didn’t get acquainted with each other, but when we meet, it’s like you’ve met an old good friend. Last Sunday session famous Balinese guitar player Made J was performing Rockabilly. He was playing and singing like a God, I’m sure that Elvis would appreciate him highly!
So, if you have time, I know it’s quite a long way to get to Canggu, just come to see it. It’s not only beaches with astonishing black sand, huge temples and ceremonies almost every day, enormous rice fields, but mainly the atmosphere of hippie 60s and rocky 70s everywhere.
Nevertheless, keep smiling, it’s the key to every door.
