today I had to get up quite early (08.15 am !), it was time to go to university. It started at 9 o’clock and lasted until 14.30. That doesn’t seem to be a long time but wearing long trousers, it can be quite hard at temperatures round about 32 degrees. Fortunately, the aircon did great work today 😉 The Jimbaran campus is located about 10-15 minutes from our villa by scooter. I like to drive a little bit faster than I actually should, but at least I’m awake when I arrive at the university. My favourite subjects are Bahasa Indonesia and Corss Culture Competence Management, you can practice what you have learned in these courses in your daily life with the locals. Even though, it’s harder to learn Bahasa than I actually thought before. In most of the subjects I have to do homework, that’s something I do not like, but work has to be done, also in Bali 😉
Afterwards, I met some friends at the Dreamland Beach. It’s a very beautiful beach about 15 minutes from Jimbaran campus. Generally, my favorite beaches are in the Jimbaran area because there are less tourists than in Kuta or Seminjak. But of course, you’ll also find Chinese people with their cameras here, they seem to be everywhere … The beach itself is surrounded by bizarre rock formations which looks really impressive. There’s a nice beach restaurant where I ordered Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) and a refreshing Bintang. It tasted really good and the price was low. You can also climb a few stairs to get to a more luxurious place above the beach restaurant. There’s a pool up there and you’ve got a great view, BUT for me it’s way too expensive up there. I ordered one beer a week ago and it cost three times more as usual, inappropriate for my budget. However, the beautiful view is for free! The waves at Dreamland Beach are perfect for body-boarding, but they can get pretty high and powerful ! Girls, keep an eye on your bikini (boys, keep an eye on the girls losing their bikinis).I don’t like crowdy places at the beach so I always walk about 5 minutes away from the restaurant and here you can see where the beach got its name from. You actually feel like you’re in paradise and you don’t get disturbed by any tourists, time to relax.
Tonight I am going to have some fun at a villa-home party, some gobali students will also be there so I think we’ll destroy this place 😉
See you, Meikl
