Hi everyone! I left beautiful Bali again to explore some new places. Me and my friend took a speedboat to Gili Trawangan on saturday morning and arrived there before noon. After we found a decent and reasonable priced accommodation, we rented some bikes and started biking around the small island, which only takes around 1 hour. I honestly have to say that I didn’t like Gili T that much. There are some nice spots but overall it was nothing special in my opinion and also it’s way too crowded for me.
We took some pictures at the famous swings and in the evening we had some dinner at the night market. They offer a huge variety of fresh seafood which you can choose from and then they cook it in front of your eyes. We originally planned to stay on the Gilis for two nights, but since we weren’t really impressed by it, we just decided to go to Lombok the next morning. We booked some tickets to Senggigi through one of the agencies which you can find in every corner and after a short ferry ride to Bangsal, a shuttle bus took us to Senggigi.
We rented a scooter and drove up north to Malimbu Hill from where you can even spot all three Gili islands. The view is really nice up there! After the short stop we continued our journey to chase some waterfalls which ended up being a little bit disappointing. The first one we drove to totally dried out and the second spot, Gangga waterfalls, was also not really impressing. The “guide” explained us that it was due to the dry season that we could barely see any water. So I can’t recommend going there. There is another waterfall way up north which is supposed to be beautiful but we didn’t have any time left to drive there.
The next day we took a shuttle bus to Kuta, which is located in the South of Lombok. I really like this tiny city and the surrounding beaches. We’ve been to Selong Belanak, Mawi Beach and Tanjung Aan (my favorite!!!) so far and all of them are really nice. I wish I could show you pictures but I have problems uploading them, the internet connection is really bad here. Maybe I can do that when I’m back in Bali. However I can just recommend visiting Lombok, especially the south. It’s not for you if you’re looking for parties but if you would like to take a break from the busy Bali life, then this is the right place!
Talk to you soon!
