Like I told you last week I arrived on Gilli Trawangan on wednesday. On thursday we got our boat tickets to Gilli Air, which is close to Gilli Trawangan. Before we left, we rented bikes for two hours to explore the Island. Gilli Trawangan has one touristic main street at the “harbour” and on the north site on the island is mostly nothing or big resorts. At the “Ombak Sunset Resort and Spa” is a famous swing which is in the ocean where you can take awesome pictures, of course we did too.
With stops to take pictures and enjoying the view it took us about an hour to bike around the whole island. The Gillis are really small and spending two days there is totally enough.
In the afternoon we took a speedboat to Gilli Air, where my roommate and her friend already arrived a couple hours before us.We looked for our homestay which was really nice, clean and the people were friendly. It was called “Jibril Guesthouse” and I can only recommend it. We even got a welcome drink – a fresh pineapple juice. We met up with my roommate and her friend and spent some time relaxing at the beautiful beach. Gilli Air is smaller than Gilli Trawangan and a lot more nature and little villages, I like it better because it is more quiet and the people are really friendly. At night we went to a restaurant called “Turtel Beach” which was an awesome place right at the beach. We had a great night.
The next morning we wanted to go snorkling but it is an 5 hour trip with the boat, so we decieded to rent a mask and do it close to the beach since my friend left for Bali this afternoon and I left for Gilli Trawangan again with my roommate and her friend.
Afer taking the wooden pulic boat to Gilli Trawangan we looked for our hostel. This time I was lucky. It was really pretty, cute and clean! The staff was nice and the other people staying there, too. For dinner we went to an italian place which was pretty good, after that we sat at our hostel with australian guys, who also stayed at our hostel. That night we tried the Trawangan party-life and it was pretty good because everything is outside and close to the beach.
The next morning we had a nice breakfast buffet right at the beach.
After breakfast we rented bikes again and I showed my roommate and her friend the swing where they took pictures, too.
After spending a couple more hours at the beach we took the speedboat back to Bali. This time the ride was more bumpy because of the waves, we got pretty wet at the deck and I was really happy when I arrived at home late at night. The next two days we spent relaxing at our pool and doing nothing. On tuesday we rented a car to go to Ubud and explore the ricefields and an Elephant Cave. The cave was pretty awesome since I liked the entrance a lot, you can see it on the picture. It is man made and dated to the 11th century.
The rice terrace was pretty cool, too. We walked in it for a little while but it was really too hot to do the whole thing.
After the ricefields we went to the south of Bali to a restaurant called “Single Fin” it is on top of cliffs with a view on the ocean, surfers and the sunset. A very nice view!
I still have one more week of vacation, I will let you know what happens. Talk to you soon!
