Finally we’ve got the mid-semester break, so we decided to go to the Gilis.
Because the Gilis are islands, you just take a boat. Our first stop was Gili Travangan (2 days) – the second was Gili Meno (1day) and last but not least Gili Air (1 day).
Let’s have a closer look to Gili Meno.
Gili Meno is located in the middle of Lombok’s three northwest coast Gilis. Gili Meno’s population is about approximately 500 human. Most of them are living in the centre of the island. Gili Meno attracts fewer tourists than Gili Trawangan and is the quietest and smallest of the islands. However, honeymooner are often excited to the crystal clear water and idyllic, secluded white beaches.
Keep in mind that there is no fresh water available on the island. It has to be shipped from Lombok. Electricity is supplied by underwater pipelines also from Lombok. Regarding transportation or infrastructure you should also know that there aren’t any cars or motorbikes. ONLY carriages! Or if you prefer to workout, you can rent a bike ;-).
Meno has wonderful beaches but the accommodations are relatively expensive and we missed other activities than hanging around at the beach. On this island there is nothing going on. Therefore, we were ONLY one day over there – for us it was too boring.
We had a shabby accommodation because everything else was priceless. When we were sitting at our terrace, suddenly came a hudge bug! WE ARE 3 GIRLS! What should we do? LOUDLY, VERY LOUDLY CRYING seemed to be a possible solution in that moment. Followed by one of the human nature’s prehistorical instinct: escaping to our room – very fast! Within 1 minute five hotel employees were standing in front of our room and looked at us questioningly. I showed them the monster – one picked it up and then they started laughing.
