Hey guys,
last weekend I visited the Gili Islands for the second time. So as usual we took our way in the early morning to Padang Bai to take the speedboat to Gili Trawangan. This time I knew some nice accommodations from my last trip – so we didn’t have to search for a long time. For you guys, who haven’t been at Gili islands, I can recommend to go the main street vom “harbour” right and walk till Homestay Melati.
I like that place, because of the local guys who let the bunglalows, make the meals, give you a bike, sell everything that some people need – if you want to try Marihuana or Magic Mushrooms – and are just friendly and helpful. So we had a lovely evening with these guys, watched the sunset at the sunset place (btw: there is a bar, which offers “bloody good cocktails” for 30k IDR) and talked about our life in Germany and their life on a tiny Island. One of our new friends told us about his dream, to improve his English skills for going to Lombok for working there. So we took his selfmade Bahasa Indonesia – English vocabulary book and filled it with usefull words – and some random funny ones of course.
Just as the first weekend at the Gilis we chartered a boat and went snorkeling in front of Gili Air and Trawangan. This time they brought us to some different spots, so that we could see lots of fishes this time and it was an incredible view of the underwater world again.
The last day of the trip I moved to Gili Meno, the smallest of all the three islands, to visit two friends from Düsseldorf. Together, we made another boat trip in the next morning, where we could see the sun rising behind a vulcany. And as the perfect ending of a great weekend with many pleasant people we saw some dolphins in the ocean. We couldn’t come very close but anyways it was amazing to see dolphins in free water for the first time in my life.
Wednesday we will have a day off, because of a national holiday. Thursday and Friday we have to write our Midtest – then there is semester break 🙂
Stay tuned, enjoy life and visit Bali!
