The 10 most frequently asked questions

I have no passport or it is no longer valid. Can I apply without a passport?

Yes, you can apply first with your ID card and send us your passport once you have it.

I applied with the regular option , but would now like to fly earlier. Can I switch to early fly option?

You can still go for the early fly option until the end of the registration period. The fee for early fly option is 19 €. If you have already paid the tuition fees, then you need to pay the extra 19 € after consulting with us.

I write in the first week of the GoBali program still exams in my home university. Is it possible to start the program later ?

Yes , you need to have a presence of at least 75 %. This means you could start up to three weeks later. But consider that you have to make up the missed content.

Can you provide me a temporary letter of enrollment?

The Udayana University does not issue provisional certificates. You get your letter of enrolled at, depending on the option selected, 6-8 or 10-12 weeks before classes begin.

When will I receive my final letter of enrollment?

If you have chosen the regular option , 6-8 weeks before the lectures begin. In the early fly option, 10-12 weeks before the lectures begin. Only at these times the certificate will be issued.

How can i get in touch with other GoBali students before the start of the program?

We have a Facebook group for each semester. This group is for the students of the semester only. You have to search the group and send us a request to join. The groups always have the name of your semester. If you, for example, study in the summer semester 2016 then you need to look for “GoBali SS 2016”.

Do you help students finding accommodation?

We do not directly help in finding accommodation. We have partners who are specialized in finding student accommodation.

Can I choose courses from a different concentration , too?

No, you can only visit the courses from your concentration.

Can I also take courses from other programs such as IBSN , Asia Exchange or Norcis ?

No, each program is independent for themselves and their courses can only be occupied by students from the programs themselves. Furthermore, we can not guarantee the quality of the other programs.

On what days do the lectures take place?

Lectures can be given from Monday to Friday. It depends on the availability of lecturers and differ from semester to semester. Usually they take place on 3 days in a row each week.

Questions about the application

Can I only apply online?

Yes, applications can only be submitted online using the application form.

I can't upload one or more of the required documents, what should I do?

Complete and submit the application form without attaching the documents. Send them separately to application@gobali.org. Don’t forget to send them, because without these documents we can not process your application.

Questions about the procedure

Can i get my letter of enrolment from the Udayana University before I have paid the program fee?

No, you first have to pay the program fee and after that Udayana University will issue the letter of enrolment.

When is the semester break?

Usually the midterm 2-weeks break starts after the 6th week of lessons. This period may shift if the university considers it appropriate because of holidays or similar.

On what days do the lectures take place?

Lectures can be given from Monday to Friday. It depends on the availability of lecturers and differ from semester to semester. Usually they take place on 3 days in a row each week.

When will I get the schedule for the lectures?

They will be handed out on the welcoming day in the university.

Can I change my chosen concentration?

You can change your chosen concentration until the end of the regular application period. In certain circumstances, you can also switch the concentrations with another student in the first week in a mutual understanding.

Do I have to wear a school uniform?

No, but at all Asian universities there is a dress code. You should wear long trousers, a collared shirt and closed shoes. No Flip Flops, mini skirt, singlets, shorts etc.

Questions about the certificates

Am I required to take an English course or a TOEFL course in order to study in Bali?

No, but keep in mind that all leasons, projects, presentations and exams are in English. For all those, who are interested in advanced English lessons, different extracurricular English courses will be offered by the Udayana University.

Do I need an Indonesian language course?

No, because all lessons are given in English. Applications for scholarships at your home country might require an Indonesian language course. It depends on the regulations of the scholarship organisation.

When will I get my final certificate?

You will receive your official certificate in digital form (PDF) within 8 weeks after the final exams.

Can I get the original certificate as a hard copy?

Yes, on request, the original certificates can be delivered via DHL but you will be charged with the additional costs.

How many certificates will I receive?

Altogether four. One that shows your exam results, one certificate for the Indonesian language course, one for the completed project and one for the successfully completed GoBali Program.

Questions about the fees

When do I have to pay the tuition fee for the GoBali program?

The due date depends on the selected option. You can find the exact date on your invoice, which you received from us via email.

When do I have top pay the application fee?

Directly after your application, but within 14 days. After 14 days your reservation will expire if the payment hasn’t been done yet. Keep in mind that we process your application only after we received the payment.

Is there a detailed list of what the tuition fee consists of?

No, the program fee is an all-inclusive price of the Udayana University. The fees cover all expenses related to the studies.

Can I pay the tuition fee in several parts ?

No, you have to completely transfer the tuition fee. A partial payment is not possible. If you have any problems with the transfer limit please contact your Bank.

Questions about visa

Where can I apply for my visa?

You have to apply for the Visa at the Indonesian Embassy responsible for your home country. Therefore, visit the following website. http://id.embassyinformation.com.

What type of visa do you recommend?

Since it is a requirement of the University, that every student has to have a student visa. We only recommend the student visa. Other visa are always on your own risk.

What do I need for the visa application?

Visa regulations differ from country to country. Please check the regulations of the Indonesian Embassy of your home country.

I have not been able to apply for a student visa , now what?

Normally, each student must have a student visa. In exceptional cases, you can enter the country with a tourist visa. The tourist visa can be extended for another 30 days. Then you have to leave the country shortly. You could then, for example, apply for a student visa in Singapore .

How long is the student visa valid for?

The student visa is valid for a maximum of 6 months. After immigrating, it is valid for 60 days and then has to be renewed every 30 days. Each extension will cost you an extension fee. With the departure from Indonesia the student visa becomes invalid.

Can I work while I´m in Indonesia?

No, your visa won´t allow you to work in Indonesia. Students with social visas are not allowed to receive salaries.
