I really wondered how the food is going to be in Indonesia. I usually loved Asian food back in Germany. I knew there is going to be rice served with each dish. So when I came to Bali I immidiately tested the food at a local warung (street restaurant). The first dish that I tried here was called „Mie Goreng“ which are basically fried noodles. It was made of yellow noodles, peices of chicken, cabbage, garlic and a prawn cracker was served aswell. Not to forget the many flavours which were added besides soy sauce. It tasted incredibly good. The other choice you have most of the time is „Nasi Goreng“ ( fried rice). It contains similar ingredients like the Mie Goreng just some flavours are different. Especially the rice makes you full. But another favourite dish of mine is Nasi Campur. The special thing about Nasi Campur is the fact that you choose the food which is served with the rice. My favourite Warung offers many things to put in: a varfiety of chicken or fish, nuts, prawns, potatos, tofu, fresh vegetables and many more. You can decide if you want to try spicy food. A local person was suprised when he saw me at the warung. He said: „Oh you like Indonesian food? It’s very spicy.“ It was so funny because I didn’t like spicy meals, but now I suddenly need at least something spicy in my food. But on the other hand, sometimes you cravefor western food. The best place in Bali is the „Skygarden“. They offer a buffet everyday from 5pm till 8pm, plus all you can drink from 5pm till 6pm. I mean this is the best place. Each day they change some dishes for a motto like „Taco Tuesday“. The best thing is: it is so cheap!
