Today there is no university because of an election in Bali. We start our day with a good breakfast including croissants and dark bread in our villa. At 10 o’clock we leave with our scooters heading to Legian Beach. As every day, we always discover new things in our area: today we go surfing for the first time. I am very excited, as I only know how to windsurf and snowboard. But I never tried surfing before. First, we learnt how to get on the board, when and how to get up and how to get down. Then, we went into the water with our surfboards and received some more information from the funny instructers. One of them, called Di, had such a particular laugh. When the wave comes from behind, he always exclames “paddle hard”. You really paddle hard and still, he shouts “paddle harder” and laughs. After many trials we finally all stood on the surfboard. Di especially praised us for riding the so called blue waves. Surfing is so much fun and besides it is such a good workout after all this delicious balinese food.
In the evening we went dining in a sushi bar on the Sunset Road. It is called Sushi Tei and the exterior building looks as if it is very expensive inside. Wondering that the prices for sushi are indeed fair, we took three different sushi plates. They were very delicious. As we normally eat balinese food like Nasi and Mie Goreng every day, sushi with salmon and tuna was a nice variation.
For dessert we just drove around and found Starbucks and Mc Donald’s in a corner. At Starbucks I took a Java Chip Chocolate Frappucino grande and I was surprised that it only cost me 2 Euros. I will definetely come back to Starbucks often during my stay in Bali.
