“What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn’t have any doubt
– it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn’t want to go anywhere else.”
I was rafting today with a big group of GoBali students on the Telaga Waja River managed by the guys from auslandssemester-bali.de. Although Nathalie has also told you her experience of rafting, I would just like to present my practical knowledge from today 🙂
The booking process was very easy due to the fact that you could just do it in the internet and pay with credit card. The price is 250000 rupiah (special offer for students) and includes the shuttle service from your home and back, as well as a coffee and tea before the tour starts and after that some typical food like nasi goreng and ayam sate. I think this is a really good price concerning to the scope.
I should mention that the process to fetch all students from their home was very chaotic and nothing happened as it was planned. Maybe one day I will get used to it, that organizing is not the best discipline of the Balinese. So until we arrived at the location for starting the rafting journey it took us around 4 hours to get there because of navigation problems (normally the ride would take around 2 hours). So when we arrived, the motivation was not on its highest level. But after preparing and getting the special equipment (helmet, protection vest) on, the tension rises.
Fortunetly we had a good english speaking, nice guy with around 10 years of experience who come with us and explained everything. We worked as a team and everyone has to do what our guide says. His motto is: One for all and all for one! That´s why we all did our best and kept attention to all 5 team members. The water was so beautiful clear and refreshing in contrast to the heat. The trip itself is, as also Nathalie mentioned, not possible to describe. No picture or no report can reproduce what you go through. Hence I just can advise everyone to go there and experience for himself. After powering 3 hours and jumping off the 4 meters waterfall at the very end, the provided food was really good to get new energy for the last long stairs.
Finally being at home I am in just no more mood than writing the article and going to bed while still having the feeling to sit in the boat and drive with the flow.
Good night !
