Bali is a paradise. Beautiful beaches, delicious food, crazy nights and good weather all over the year. But if you come to Bali you have to know that everything works a bit slower than you´re used to in your home country. So people who gets very fast angry or have no patience, learn to chill or stay at home. Because then Bali is the wrong place for you.
Here are just a few examples where you have to be patient:
If you are hungry and want to go to warung to eat some local food, then go on time and don´t wait till the hunger gets too big. It´s usual that you have to wait min. 30 minutes for a simple meal and if you come with more than 2 people, your friend will get his food when you already finish yours. But the good thing is that it´s very cheap.
If you want to go shopping then plan with a whole day. There are two reasons why: 1. Bali is a very good place to go shopping. There are a lot of beautiful boutiques, shops or a mall where everyone will find something. 2. The cashier work very slowly. Instead of one chashier who take yor clothes, scan them, take your money and put the clothes in a bag, there are for each step one person. And each person is totally relaxed and works in slowmotion. Exactly the same situation you will find at the supermarket. But there you have more then for example two shirts and one pant. However it is worth the wait.
Another example is the traffic in Bali. If you want to rent a vehicle then rent a scooter. If you rent a car you will need a lot of time more to come to your destionation than with a scooter. With the scooter you are able to ride between the cars and thats not possible with a car. If you live in Kerobokan you need 40 minutes tot he university in Jimbaran. 40 minutes for 17 km! You can imagine how long it takes with a car. And always wear an helmet! It´s too dangerous without one. Furthermore the police will stop you when you don´t wear one.
So you see in Bali everythin.g is working a bit slower, but do not upset. Just try to relax and you will see that you won´t notice it atfer a few weeks.
