“Five o´clock in the morning? Only for breakfast? You are absolutely crazy!”, my friends told me one day before. But I was motivated. I want to experience the silence in the morning.
At five o´clock in the morning I got up when the sky was still dark. My housemate Lorene was waiting for me and we rode by scooter to Balangan Beach. The streets were empty, there was only one person who was waiting for us, our friend Jan who went with us. We drove along the curvy street; the only sound in our ears comes from our scooters.
As we arrived the sky went lighter. We were nearly the only one there, no tourists, no surfers, only a few dogs and the first Balinese people who opened their Warungs.
We didn´t talk so much. Everybody got inside for his own thoughts when we sat on the beach and looked over the sea. The sun started rising and the color of the waves turned from grey to blue. The sky became clearer, the clouds went away. It became a wonderful day.
We listened to the waves which crashed on the beach and on the cliffs.
Then one after one the surfers came in the early sun and swam out of the sea. We went in a Warung to have our breakfast: pancake with Nutella, American breakfast with ham, toast and egg, pineapple juice and coffee. We relaxed while we look after the surfers doing their sport. But there was still a wonderful silence.
It doesn´t seem like a great adventure, but it was a wonderful detailed experience, which everybody should do, because that is Bali.
