Hey guys! This week I haven’t been up to much, firstly because I got a cold and secondly because we had to learn for our midterm exams on Thursday and Friday.
I have to admit that I’m one of the laziest persons I’ve ever met so as you can imagine learning is not one of my favourite activities. The good thing about studying in Bali is that you can combine the inconvenient stuff with something pleasant. I mean, reading a boring text at the pool is so much better than reading a boring text in a crowded library. On the other hand I’m a bit afraid I won’t be learning any more at all once I get back to Germany.
Having spent almost two months in Bali I start recognising some essential changes in my thinking and behaviour. For example I have always been very laid-back, but in the first weeks here I was really fucked-up because of the “maybe tomorrow”-attitude of most Balinese people. By now I’m pretty much the same: I don’t plan things long beforehand any more and if something goes wrong I’m even more relaxed than I’ve been when I was in Germany. So in my case I totally agree with everyone who said a semester abroad changes people and I hope I won’t suffer a cultural shock when I get back.
