Hey,
Our semester break is more than 4 weeks ago and I didn’t find time to upload a report and some pictures from backpacking in Borneo with my friend Raphael.
As I told you in m last report, Borneo is the third largest island in the world, so you can imagine that travelling over there takes some time and leisure. When we booked our flights to Borneo (and back to Bali), we actually had no imagination how big that island is and what we can expect to see there.
So after arriving we bought a lonely planet travel guide – and after short reading we recognized, that travelling over there is harder than we imagined before.
I don’t have enough time and space here on the blog to tell you all the stories, that we experienced. But I can just say that we had a very adventurous time:
We travelled in Malaysian Sabah and Sarawak and Indonesian Kalimantan – had to rebook a flight, because we didn’t make it in two weeks to Banjarmasin, where we wanted to head back to Bali. We saw three national parks, hitchhiked two full days without paying any money, sah wild orang utans and proboscis monkeys, took 18 hours bus trips with loud Indonesian Jungle Techno Music the whole night, sleeped on the balcony of some workman, climbed two mountains, drove with a houseboat through the deepest jungle, met two very nice Swedish girls, got to know the Chinese and Malaysian cuisine, saw a traditional Malaysian ceremony, climbed in big caves and relaxed one night on the most beautiful island I’ve seen so far.
Stay tuned, grab your backpack and travel Borneo.
