Hey guys, welcome back.
This week I went to the north of Bali with my roommates. We rented a car because it is easier to drive to the north with many people by car. It was a three hour drive and our first stop were the hot springs in Banjar. They were really pretty, but I thought they were more natural. I think they looked too much man made, but still pretty.
We continued driving through little, little villages. It was amazing to see how people in the “mountain” live. Very simple and with less things than people in the city. We arrived to Lovina Beach and looked at a couple accomodations because we did not book a hotel in advance since people told us not to. It is a lot cheaper just to walk into hotels and book a room. We got a nice hotel with a great pool for only 6€ for one night.
Lovina Beach is famous for snorkeling and dolphin watching, the ocean is very calm and no waves. That night we went to a really nice place for dinner. It is called “Spice Beach Club”, it is right on the beach and the service is incredibly good! I finally had lobster and the taste was amazing.
The next morning we got up at 5 o´clock in the morning to go on a little boat and see the sunset from the ocean. It was really pretty. After the sunset we waited on the ocean to see dolphines. We saw a couple but I did not really like the way they scared the dolphines. There were a hundret boats, all chasing the scared dolphines. For people that have never seen dolphines it is probably cool to see, but I have seen dolphines before a lot of time so for me the boat trip was only worth it because of the sunset.
Afterwards we had breakfast and continued driving to “GitGit Waterfalls”. It was not as big as expected but we jumped into the “Twin Waterfall” which was pretty amazing.
On the way home we stopped at the famous watertempel “Ulun Danu Beratan” which is on the 50.000 Ruphia bill. The rest of the way was tirering and we all went to bed early that night.
Monday was crazy. We spent the day relaxing at the beach with friends, when we got a phone call that a friend who was visiting Bali had a bad scooter accident and was in the hospital an hour away. My roommate drove there immedeatly and had to notice that the hospital was really small and unhygienic because it was only a village where the accident happend. Our whole Villa got involved and we were a good team. The guys picked up the scooters and drove them home safely. My other roommate and I organized a transport to the hospital to pick up our friends and roommate who was already there. I was shocked. The hospital was worse than expected. Really hot and humid air inside, almost no hygienic places and very crowded. Afterwards we drove directly to the big hospital in the capital Denpasar because our friend was unconscious for a long time and could not remember the accident. We had to make sure her brain was okay. We spent a long night in Denpasar and finally we had the notice that she was fine. Her face was pretty messed up with a big cut and bruises but her brain was fine which is the most important thing. This night showed once again that I was really lucky with my roommates. Everyone was involved and tried to help. In the end all was good, we got our friend home safe and she is able to fly home tonight.
After this troubled day I went to a massage today and had a mani/pedi which was amazing. It is not that expensive here and one can treat him/herselfe once in a while.
Let´s see what next week has in store for me, I will let you know.
Yours, Jana
